July 18, 1957 - The Lehighton-Weissport Union School District appoints Thomas Faulkner to be its new head coach for both football and track. Faulkner fills the vacancy left by Ben Jones. The 28-year-old graduated from Upper Darby High School and Gettysburg College and will teach history. Besides coaching, Faulkner will go on to establish the Lehighton Athletic Booster Club football league in 1958. He will coach Lehighton for six seasons and post a record of 25-32-2.
