Beltzville park manager position open

Beltzville State Park has a vacancy in the park manager's office.

Devin Buzard, who served as Beltzville's park manager since 2014, recently took the same job at the Tobyhanna State Park complex. In an email, Buzard thanked those who visited Beltzville over his three years on the job."I have been proud to serve as park manager at Beltzville State Park for the past three years and I am grateful for the support that I have received from the local community during that time," Buzard said.Buzard, a former U.S. Marine military policeman, oversaw the park as its popularity surged due to visitors from outside the area. He helped form the Friends of Beltzville State Park, a nonprofit that provides support and volunteerism for the park.Buzard's position will be filled through the state Civil Service Commission in collaboration with Department of Conservation of Natural Resources' Bureau of State Parks.According to Terry Brady, spokesman for DCNR, there is no set timetable to fill the position, but it will not be vacant long."With Beltzville, with the size of the lake, the water quality issues, the size of the land, it requires a lot of experience. That park can't run long without a manager," Brady said.Buzard said he is looking forward to the opportunity to lead the park."I will have the privilege to serve the citizens of Pennsylvania and residents of Monroe and Wayne while overseeing these significant historic and natural resources," Buzard said.Compared with Beltzville, the Tobyhanna Park Complex has about three times as much acreage, 9,656 versus 2,792 for Beltzville. The former park manager was charged as a result of an investigation by the state Attorney General's office. In 2016, four people, including park manager Jennifer Bowman, were charged after they allegedly forged records relating to the park's pool of motor vehicles.Bowman was able to enroll in the ARD program after facing felony charges.
