A Carbon County man admitted to assaulting his brother while a Philadelphia man pleaded to a criminal count.

Both defendants appeared Friday before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Lansford incidentJacob A. Bynon, 35, of Summit Hill, pleaded guilty to one count of simple assault. He was arrested by Lansford police for an incident on Feb. 29, 2016, in the area of 305 W. Patterson St. Police responded to a reported assault incident. The investigation revealed that Bynon had assaulted his brother Jordan Bynon.Jacob Bynon said he was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time. Bynon express remorse for what he had done to his brother, who suffered injuries.Matika told him, "I hope this is a life-alternating moment in your life."Bynon has been in the county prison since the incident.Matika sentenced him to serve nine to one day less 24 months in prison and ordered he get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, make restitution of $814, pay about $1,000 in court costs, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and render 50 hours of community service. He was given credit for 351 days spent in jail on the charge and paroled.Unauthorized useAndre Ramon Boyer, 25, of Philadelphia, and formerly of Lansford, pleaded in two pending cases to one count each of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested by Lansford police on Aug. 6, 2016, taking the vehicle of a borough resident and not returning it. The drug count stems from an incident on July 3, 2016, in the area of 22-36 W. Patterson St. In exchange for the pleas, a third case was dismissed.On the unauthorized use charge Matika sentenced him to time served (178 days) to 18 months in prison and on the possession count a fine of $100.He was also ordered to make total restitution for damages to the vehicle in the first case of $3,756.74, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.Boyer is currently an inmate in the county prison but won't be released. He has a detainer on him from Philadelphia County for a pending criminal charge and will be transferred to the custody of Philadelphia officials.
