Carbon County will receive $272,304 in state funding for improvements to the access road that will lead to the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center, State Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne/Carbon) and State Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) announced today.

Along with the widening of the access road, the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training project includes construction of a fire training facility, a two story multiuse building with classrooms and meeting areas, emergency equipment garages, and a stormwater facility that will recycle water, which will be made available for fire training.

"The Multimodal Transportation Fund is a critical resource for local communities to invest in a safe, modern infrastructure system," said Sen. John Yudichak. "Improvements to the public access road are essential to the construction of the Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center, that once completed, will be a valued asset for the first responders of Carbon County."

"We need to ensure our local responders have the best training and equipment possible, and that begins with the new Carbon County Emergency Operations and Training Center in Nesquehoning, said Rep. Heffley. "I look forward to the completion of this project which will improve public safety throughout Carbon County."
