CROPWalk battles hunger

The Christian Action Council, Palmerton Area Churches sponsored its annual CROPWalk on Sunday starting at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Towamensing.

"It is done to raise funds and awareness of hunger," said Julie Everett, the organizor for CROPWalk.The CROPWalk started off with prayer led by Pastor William Hayes.The walk is approximately 5 miles long and ended at First UCC on Delaware Ave. Funds are raised by church members and are brought to the church the day of the walk.One quarter of all of the money raised goes to the Palmerton Food Pantry and the rest of the money goes to CACPAC. CACPAC will take the money to donate to disaster relief."We walk because they walk," said Everett. "They walk to get food and water."
