Christian singer to perform at Barnesville church

Christian singer and songwriter Sherry Anne Lints will share her inspirational story on Saturday of going from a child born with bilateral hearing and speech impairment to a nationwide performer.

The event will include a concert at 6 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church in Barnesville, but it will begin with a soup social from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome and admission is free. A freewill offering is welcome."Her voice is like an angel," said Fred Curvey, one of the organizers of the local concert.Curvey said he saw Lints perform in New York and knew he wanted to make her show possible for other people to see. He hopes to make the Christian music concert an annual event."This area has nothing like this," he said.During her show, Lints will talk about her challenging childhood and how she overcame it."Scripture says, 'He will never leave you nor forsake you.' (Hebrews 13:5)," she said. "Growing up through a difficult childhood, I needed that rock and anchor to hold onto."Lints began singing as a child and knew she wanted to be a singer someday. But with a degree of hearing loss in both ears, it could have remained a dream. The hearing impairment wasn't identified until after she entered school. Once it was, Lints received hearing aids and life improved dramatically. She went on to participate in church and school choirs, to win beauty pageant crowns and athletic awards, to attain academic successes and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree at 24."I love the expression, 'Who you are is God's gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.' " Lints said. She said that as a child, she "believed there was, or had to be, something or someone greater than me, and I believed in a God that loved me enough to die for me. I found that to be very humbling and it gives me a compelling sense of gratitude and appreciation and the desire to want to serve him."Lints has recorded contemporary, country, and Southern gospel music produced by Gordon Mote, an Academy of Country Music award winner; Gaither Homecoming friend Woody Wright, Southern Gospel Hall of Famer Nick Bruno, and Tony Griffith of The Griffith Family in Nashville. She is among the 2016 Singing News Fan Awards Top 10 Favorite New Artists and has performed at the National Quartet Convention and will take the stage this month in Dollywood. Her television and film appearances include: TBN, 100 Huntley Street, Babbie's House, Down Home Gospel, Nite Line, and a "Feed the Children" special with Lynda Randle, Gaither Homecoming artist; and the films "Clancy" and "The Perfect Gift."As a songwriter, Lints' video of "I Only Know to Pray" debuted on Nashville Country Revival on Daystar in 2013. It was written about the dangers of the Internet for young people. This spring, her radio single "To Be Forgiven" made the National Top 80 Southern Gospel Chart. And soon, her devotional column "Reflections with Sherry Anne" will soon be in book format. Her CDs will be available to purchase at the concert on Saturday. For more information about the concert at Bethany United Methodist Church, call 570-467-2340 or visit her website at
