Summit Hill ice cream stand reopens

Fell Street Deli in Summit Hill reopened its ice cream stand, and will celebrate 25 years of business.

The ice cream stand, which features popular Hershey's Ice Cream flavors such as moose tracks, green mint chip, and more, opened over Memorial Day weekend.The stand was closed five years ago and reopened in hopes to "bring more business," said Maria Cutler, who works at the stand."We wanted a place for people to hang out and have a good time," said owner Butch Marsolick.It was very busy in the beginning of the summer, followed by a bit of a lull. However, the stand has started to pick up lately again.Not a lot of places around the area sell Hershey's Ice Cream, drawing customers to the stand at the deli.The stand is right next to the deli. There are benches with cabana-style umbrellas. The stand also has gelati made either with mango or strawberry banana Italian ice and sundaes such as hot fudge and CMP."I like to see old faces, from school and meet new people," said Brianna Raabe, another worker at the stand.The stand is open Monday through Sunday 4-9 p.m., weather permitting. There are about six workers at the stand.The deli will also be celebrating 25 years of business this September.The Fell Street Deli was opened in 1991 by Butch and Esther (Williams) Marsolick, both of Summit Hill.The first year in business, the deli was located on Fell Street. It then moved to its current location on Market Street, but kept the original name despite the location change.When the deli began, it featured mainly hoagies.
