jihadists' open playbook

Islamic terrorists are waging war against humanity and the civilized world must come together to stop them. As of last week, there have already been 1,272 Islamic attacks in 50 countries this year, in which 11,772 people were killed and 14,303 injured.

The latest horror was in Nice, France, where a Muslim migrant used a rented refrigerator truck to mow down revelers on Bastille Day, leaving 84 dead and 202 injured. He wheeled the 19-ton vehicle while shouting praises to Allah. The world is waiting for someone to step forward and take charge against this evil, much like Winston Churchill did in leading Great Britain against Nazi Germany in World War II; or the way John F. Kennedy blocked the Soviet Union from delivering nuclear missiles to communist Cuba in 1962.America can't afford to ignore the evil, evidenced by last month's massacre of 49 people by an Islamic extremist at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Leaders within the administration, however, were reluctant to call out radical Islamic terrorism as the root cause of the massacre.Attorney General Loretta Lynch unbelievably took a John Lennon-like attitude, even after meeting Orlando law-enforcement officials who had identified Omar Saddique Mateen as an ISIS terrorist. Lynch replied that our most effective response to terror and hatred is "compassion, unity and love."Secretary of State John Kerry, the country's top diplomat, has also favored diplomacy over military muscle in the fight against terrorism. His love-first theme echoed Lynch."We try to show the value of people coming together working through differences and I think are profoundly driven by a sense of love for other people," he stated."What we need to do is to bring people together and work to forever prevent this kind of hate and terror from playing out as it has so horribly in the last day."South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan immediately criticized that meek approach, even calling for Lynch's resignation. 'All you need is love' may be a great Beatles song, he said, but it makes for terrible foreign policy. He added that Lynch further proves that the administration has no idea what it takes to fight Islamic terrorism.Rep. Marsha Blackburn also denounced Lynch's dovish diplomatic stance, stating that the most effective weapon against Islamic extremism is not "love," but a clear strategy to destroy ISIS.While going heavy on the love mantra, the administration has been light in detailing a specific strategy to destroy the Islamic jihad. They even have trouble admitting the evil has Islamic roots, which Kerry described as a "hateful ideology."FBI Director James Comey has warned us that would-be homegrown terrorists are in every state and that there are investigations in every one of them. He has called ISIS a "chaotic spider web" that is very hard to see. It's especially hard to identify lone-wolf terrorists who act alone and do not depend on outside support. Since there are no trails of communications to intercept, they are difficult to capture.Using a truck to mow through a crowded street during a holiday celebration is right out of the terrorism playbook. In 2010, a magazine called Inspire, allegedly written by members of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, stated: "To achieve maximum carnage, you need to pick up as much speed as you can while still retaining good control of your vehicle in order to maximize your inertia and be able to strike as many people as possible in your first run."It urged the attacker to carefully study potential targets and pick areas where people can't easily escape."The ideal location is a place where there are a maximum number of pedestrians and the least number of vehicles," it stated. It also warned that it would be difficult to escape afterward and since it's a one-way road, "you keep on fighting until you achieve martyrdom."Terrorists prove that they will use any means to kill as many as possible and shut down Western civilization to achieve the goal of spreading their warped ideology. The 9/11 terrorists used box cutters as weapons to hijack planes and use them as flying bombs; the radicalized Tsarnaev brothers used two pressure-cooker bombs in the Boston Marathon attacks; and last week a truck was used in the French carnage. The next American president will have to make tough decisions to rid the world of this global cancer and that begins by first identifying and calling out the evil by name: It's radical Islamic terrorism.By JIM ZBICK |
