Longtime Schuylkill County public works director William Liptok will retire as of May 31.

Commissioners on Wednesday accepted Liptok's retirement from his $52,963 a year job.Liptok has worked for the county since Nov. 5, 2001.Commissioners also accepted the retirement of Children & Youth Services agency Administrative Officer 2 Steven Schwalm from his $65,138 job as of April 29.In other personnel matters:• 911 Communications Center telecommunicators Amanda Shearstone and John Cray were promoted from trainee status. They'll earn $14.27 an hour.• The district attorney's office rescinded the internship of Ashley Schappe, who will instead be doing her internship in the sheriff's department as of Aug. 22.• Patricia Reilly, a part-time clerk in the District Attorney's office, resigned from her $11.40 an hour job as of March 28.• Janell Phillips, a part-time clerk in the District Attorney's office, was transferred to that job from a clerical aid position. She'll earn $11.40 an hour.• Michael Gavaletz, a clerk 2 in the Clerk of Courts office, was transferred to that job from his position as part-time clerk 1 in the coroner's office. He'll earn $11.76 an hour.• Ashley Weist, a secretary in the domestic relations department, was given a wage increase to $13.48 an hour in accordance with the union contract.• Megan Wagner was appointed as an unpaid intern in the Mental Health/Developmental Services/Drug & Alcohol agency from June 1 through Aug. 11.• SuAnn Altshuler was appointed as an unpaid intern in the Planning & Zoning office beginning April 19.• Chad Moyer was appointed as an unpaid intern in the Sheriff's Office beginning May 9.• Sharlene Herring was hired as a part-time clerk in the coroner's office at $11.09 an hour.• The hiring of Corey Cromyak as a deputy coroner as of Dec. 14, 2015, was rescinded as he never started employment.
