Eighth-grade students from Palmerton Area Middle School won first place in the regional STEM K'NEX Design Challenge on April 1 at Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21 in Schnecksville.
The school sent two teams of four students. One of the teams won and will be advancing to the state competition on May 13 at Harrisburg University in Harrisburg.The first-place team is Dylan Gongo, Mitchell Hourt, Ella Cronk, and Drew Frank. Amy Morgan is the adviser for both teams. The students were required to build a structure at least 1 meter tall from K'NEX pieces that would hold weight up to 55 pounds.
