Police raid suspected Lansford meth lab

Lansford police, with the help of Pennsylvania State Police, executed a search warrant on a residence in the borough late Tuesday night after they uncovered a suspected methamphetamine lab operation in the home.

Police activity was reported in the borough by Lansford Mayor James Romankow on his Facebook page just before 9 p.m. The post urged residents and motorists to "avoid East Water Street area for police activities." No additional details as to why police were in the area were posted.According to Lansford police Sgt. Jack Soberick on scene Tuesday night, authorities converged at 102 Spring Garden St., which is part of three row homes on that block, and took one woman into custody. Police were also searching for a man who lives at the residence.No additional details on the operation were available as of press time.Lansford has been the scene of numerous meth labs popping up over the last few years.In April 2013, a meth lab was found on the 300 block of West Patterson Street and involved a mother exposing her two diaper-clad children to the drugs.A month later, a meth lab exploded in a residence along the 100 block of East Patterson Street, causing a house fire; while a second lab was located just two blocks away a few hours later.In June 2014, Lansford police, along with the Carbon County Drug Task Force and the state Office of the Attorney General busted a meth lab at 237 W. Patterson St.
