At the monthly meeting on Tuesday, the Franklin Township Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the 2016 budget. There will be no change in the tax rates for 2016.

As reported previously, the township tax millage rate will remain at 7.637 mills. This equates to a cost to the taxpayer of $0.7637 for each $100 of assessed valuation.The supervisors also adopted the 2016 garbage collection rates. They too will remain unchanged for 2016.In other news, due to the Christmas and New Year Holiday, garbage collection in the township will be changed to Christmas Eve and Dec. 31 for these respective holidays.The annual reorganization meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Jan. 4. This meeting is where newly elected Supervisor Barbara Beltz will attend her first meeting. This is also the meeting when the board of supervisors will elect a chairman and co-chairman for 2016. In addition, any other township officials will be appointed during this meeting.The monthly meeting of the Supervisors will follow this meeting at 4:30 p.m.At Tuesday's meeting, Chairman Rod Green thanked Paul Kocher for his eight years of service to the residents of Franklin Township. Kocher chose not to seek re-election for a new term. Supervisor-elect Barbara Beltz will take Kocher's place as a supervisor at the reorganization meeting.
