Weatherly to display its preliminary budget

The Weatherly School Board attended to a few end-of-the-year housekeeping matters during Wednesday's meeting. The preliminary budget was voted to be authorized for display. According to board secretary and business manager David Marsiglio, the budget will follow closely to the previous year.

"The preliminary budget is just the proposed budget, but we aren't expecting any major spikes in spending," he said. "We are anticipating personnel changes."According to Marsiglio, the increase in taxes will keep the Weatherly district afloat until the state budget can be ironed out."February or March will be the next budget meeting. We can't hold the meeting until we know the numbers we are going to get."The two new vacancies account for the personnel changes, the recent resignation of David Russell as Coordinator of Technology and Information Services, and the retirement of full-time maintenance mechanic Richard Miller. The board assigned the contract for transportation service from Hemlock Bus Co. LLC to Rohrer Bus Service of Duncannon. The company change will occur over the holiday break.Board member Gerard Grega assured parents, "We transferred bus companies. The buses may say new name after holiday, but they are still going the right way."The annual senior trip was approved for May 15-17 with the destination of Ohio. The itinerary will consist of a Cleveland Indians Baseball game, Cedar Point Amusement Park and a stop at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
