Five defendants in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas before Carbon Judge Joseph J. Matika on Tuesday.

Raymond John Kratz, 37, of White Haven, pleaded to 2 counts of persistent disorderly conduct. He was arrested on May 14 by state police at Fern Ridge following an incident in the area of 1270 State St. in East Side Borough. Kratz is currently an inmate in the Monroe County prison on a parole violation.Matika placed him on probation for a year on each count, running concurrently, and ordered he get a mental health evaluation, forfeit a rifle he had at the time of the incident, and render 50 hours of community service.Christopher Joseph Serina Jr., 35, of Tamaqua, and formerly of Lansford, pleaded to one count of persistent disorderly conduct. He was arrested on June 6 in the area of 22 W. Patterson St., by Lansford police. Police responded to the area for a report of a person causing a disturbance.Matika sentenced him to time served (34 days) to one year in jail and ordered he get a mental health evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Kelly K. Boyle, 53, of Slatington, pleaded to one count of accidents causing damage to an attended vehicle. He was arrested on May 14 by Mahoning Township police after being involved in an accident in the parking lot of the Walmart store. His vehicle struck another and he fled the scene but was later stopped.Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.Czar Founds, 18, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of prohibited offensive weapon. He was arrested on Sept. 16 when Summit Hill police responded to the area of 118 E. Hazard St., for a report of a neighbor's dispute. On scene officers were told by the victim, Ray Gusick, that he and Founds had a confrontation during which the defendant displayed a knife. Police later found the knife, which was a switchblade, a prohibited weapon.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a mental health evaluation, render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with Gusick.Russell B. Woodward Jr., 48, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of criminal attempt-criminal trespass. He was arrested on Aug. 19 by Lansford police for an incident in the area of 116 E. Bertsch St. Police responded to the area to a report of a male attempting to enter properties.Matika deferred sentencing so Woodward could apply for IPP.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
