NOVEMBER 10, 2000November 10, 2000Carbon County will have to pay $117,000 to Jim Thorpe Borough to connect Mauch Chunk Lake Park to the community’s sewer system, the council announced.The borough plans to extend the system into three sections of town, but will only stretch the sewer line to the park if the county funds the work and also pays to tap into the system.The county has indicated it is willing to pay about $500,000 to construct a new sewer main, but thinks it should only have to pay $42,500 to tap in, a figure the borough disputes based on charges of $1,700 per EDU.
