Dryer fire extinguished at Palmerton Laundromat

No damage was done after a dryer fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon at a Laundromat in Palmerton.

Mike Kercsmar, captain of the Palmerton Fire Department, said firefighters responded at around 5 p.m. to the 24/7 Laundromat at 643, Suite Two, Delaware Avenue.

Upon arrival, Kercsmar said there was smoke coming from the front door of the Laundromat.

"Someone inside used an extinguisher on it before I got there," Kercsmar said. "We used another extinguisher to make sure it was out; we just ventilated the building."

Kercsmar said firefighters were on scene for around 30-45 minutes.

He said there was no damage to the building, as the fire was contained to the dryer unit itself.

Clothes inside the dryer is believed to have caused the fire, Kercsmar said.
