Search will resume Saturday for missing Tamaqua man

Family and friends of a missing Tamaqua man will launch another search more than three months after the 29-year-old father of two vanished.

"We are once again forming a search party for Jesse Farber, my son, who has been missing since Aug. 11," said Norma Jean Fritz of Jim Thorpe late Thursday.Farber called his girlfriend in great distress on Aug. 11, and then seemed to simply disappear.Farber's girlfriend said he sounded distraught, appealing for help.He indicated he was in woods behind the school, presumably Sharp Mountain to the rear of Tamaqua Area High School.Fritz posted an appeal on Facebook on Thursday to solicit additional manpower for a Saturday search."We are searching the same mountain but a different area, the area of the mountain from Leiby's Ice Cream on Mountain Road, Tamaqua, all the way to my mom's off Valley Road heading toward high school."Fritz's mother is Rae "Sweetie" Ferryman of New England Valley and there was speculation Farber had met with misfortune while trying to reach Ferryman's house.Fritz said volunteers should meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the baseball field at Rabbit Run Reservoir in Walker Township."We are looking for able bodies and dogs. Quads are also helpful. Dogs are important," said Fritz. "We are looking for people on horseback and any sort of dogs - cadaver, hunting dogs, etc."Those willing to help are asked to call Fritz at 570-449-3985."The state police said they would help except it's such last minute that they don't have enough manpower," Fritz said.Fritz said food donations for volunteers would be greatly appreciated, soda, crackers, water, sandwiches … just about anything.Family members continue to pursue additional information that might shed light on Farber's whereabouts. In the meantime, Tamaqua police are open to any tips."We will never stop looking for him," said Fritz. She continues to appeal for the public's help."If there was foul play, then somebody knows something," she said.Family members point out that many people know Farber by the name Jesse Rex.Anyone with information is asked to call Fritz at 570-449-3985 or Tamaqua police, 570-668-5000.
