Lansford replaces zoning company

Lansford Borough Council on Wednesday hired a Lehigh County company to handle zoning and code enforcement.

Lehigh Valley Inspection Service of Orefield replaced Barry Isett & Associates of Allentown. Council on May 13 terminated Isett's contract with the borough because it was dissatisfied with the quality of service, said council president Martin Ditsky.Council has yet to fine tune Lehigh Valley Inspection Service's fee schedule and responsibilities, he said. The company, which is expected to start work on July 6, was hired on a split vote, with Councilman Tommy Vadyak opposed. Vadyak at the May 13 public meeting suggested hiring Alfred Benesch & Company to replace Isett. His motion failed, however.Council hired Isett on Oct. 10, 2012.Ditsky said it was important to find a replacement for Isett as quickly as possible. The company will handle permits for a number of projects, including installing swimming pools."It's summer, and people will be putting up backyard swimming pools," Ditsky said. "There are certain responsibilities and requirements for putting up pools."In other matters, council appointed part-timepatrolman Chris Ondrus to the borough planning committee.
