Members of the Lehighton Area Educational Support Personnel Association recently held a collection to help aid the Carbon County Animal Shelter. The association, made up of 100 nonteacher employees of the Lehighton school district, collected items for the dogs consisting of cleaning supplies, paper products, and food.
The shelter also does a clothing drive to help defray some of its costs. Anyone who can donate clothing to the shelter and, if willing, can also donate time to help walk any of the dogs, are welcomed to help."We do this to let the people of the area know who we are. Not only do we help the students, but we do a lot to help the community," association President Julie Willet said. The animal shelter is just one of the organizations that the support staff collects for. Other organizations include the Summit Nursing Home and Carbon County Friends of Animals.
