Summit Hill man admits to 2 DUIs

A Summit Hill man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Tuesday to two driving under the influence charges.

He was one of eight defendants in pending DUI cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Two 0.27sEdward William Farber Jr., 49, when arrested for the two DUIs in separate incidents, had the same blood-alcohol content in both incidents.He was arrested on July 27, 2014, along Bertsch Street by Lansford police with a blood test showing 0.27 BAC. The second arrest occurred on Sept. 21, along Radcliff Street by Nesquehoning police, with the same 0.27 BAC.On the first count Matika placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300.On the second case he was sentenced to serve 48 hours in jail, followed by five months and 28 days in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program, with the first 28 days on electronic monitoring. He must also pay a fine of $1,000, have his license suspended for a year, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and render a total of 50 hours of community service.The two sentences run consecutive to each other and consecutive to a parole period he is currently serving in Schuylkill County for DUI.He will begin the jail term at 3 p.m. Friday.
