Six placed in Carbon probation program

Six first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Tuesday by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record will be wiped clean. If they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, they will then face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Elena Jane Boyle, 47, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a driving under the influence charge. She was arrested on Dec. 28, 2014, by Nesquehoning police along Route 209. A test showed 0.18 BAC.She was assessed $550 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have her license suspended for 60 days.David Joshua Schoch, 22, of White Haven, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Jan. 9 along Big Boulder Drive by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.23 BAC.He was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Zachary John Stich, 23, of Hazleton, was placed on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police. He was arrested on Sept. 30, 2014, by Beaver Meadows police along Broad Street.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Joshua Joseph Suveg, 19, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of DUI. He was arrested on Jan. 27 along Patterson Street by Lansford police. A test showed 0.10 BAC.He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.John F. Tipito III, 44, of White Haven was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Jan. 17 along Route 940 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.21 BAC.He was assessed $550, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.Barry Lee Werner Jr., 34, of Coaldale, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested on Jan. 7, 2014, along West Water Street by Lansford police.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
