The Tamaqua Area School board of directors will hold committee meetings at 7 p.m. today in the Tamaqua Middle School.

At the last regular meeting, administrators discussed the possibility of closing the Rush Elementary School. Several options are possible, but all include moving the students in the English as a Second Language and Gifted Programs from Tamaqua Elementary to the West Penn Elementary School.The district is also facing a budget shortfall of approximately $2 million.The tentative budget calls for balancing the budget by using surplus funds. The final budget must be approved by the end of June.The public is welcome to attend the committee meetings.
