Woman struck by car in Franklin Township

A woman was struck by a car and injured on Saturday evening in Franklin Township.

The woman was attempting to cross Route 209 near Bank Street about 6 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.The driver immediately stopped.The woman was walking a dog at the time.The woman sustained a head injury and was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and then transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.The name of the victim and driver of the vehicle were not available this morning from township police.Franklin Township police were assisted at the scene by state police at Lehighton and Beltzville park rangers.
