New Tripoli man cited by police

Driving under the influence of alcohol charges apparently weren't enough for a New Tripoli man stopped by Nesquehoning Police on May 14, so he continually threatened and berated the arresting officer, then caused a commotion at St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale.

David L. Rauch, 45, of 7174 Decatur St., New Tripoli was celebrating his birthday when he was stopped by police for suspicion of DUI.He taken to the hospital for a blood draw in the early morning hours and proved to be so uncooperative that Coaldale Police were called at 3:11 a.m. to assist at the hospital.While waiting for a phlebotomist to draw his blood, Rauch continually shouted epithets, cursing the officers, threatening to harm them and their families.At one point, as an officer was removing Rauch's handcuffs so blood could be drawn, the man pulled away, then swung the other cuff at the officer.He stopped resisting once he was pinned to the waiting room chair.Coaldale Police have charged Rauch with making terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
