Art on Main Saturday in Stroudsburg

Art and music will abound in Downtown Stroudsburg as the Pocono Arts Council hosts the annual Art on Main celebration from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Art on Main is a visual and performing arts celebration involving both the business and arts community of Downtown Stroudsburg.Downtown parking will be free from 3 to 8 p.m.Special events through the day include the ninth Annual PoconoArts Parking Meter "Fine Art" Competition.One-of-a-kind parking meter covers, created by local artists and community members will be on display up and down Main Street with prizes awarded in both children and adult categories.Also beginning at 3 p.m., the PoconoArts Council presents PoconoArts Squared.Fine artists and craftsmen will have booths along Main and North Seventh streets where patrons can not only purchase artwork, but speak with the artist or craftsman in person.This is an excellent opportunity to get an inside perspective on an artist's work.Artists scheduled to exhibit include Marty Carr, Patty Sanchuk, Lauren Livingston, Roosters at Huntingtower, Sharon Santise, Amanda Johnson, Jason Scott Williamson and Kenneth McGoy.A final fun event is your chance to take your pictures with the PoconoBears, an enjoyable way to celebrate one of the Poconos' natural icons.Musicians will also be performing throughout the event in various locations throughout downtown.Scheduled to perform are Barry Field, guitar; The Lost Ramblers, Bluegrass; and Woodrow, featuring Theresa Ratliff and Brian Bramkamp.At 6:30, PoconoArts will host the awards ceremony for its Members' Exhibition 2015 In the ArtSpace Gallery.Cash and certificates donated by local businesses, organizations, and individuals will be awarded in eight categories.An opening reception and ample opportunity to view the work on display will take place from 5-8 pm.Throughout the day, galleries and businesses throughout downtown Stroudsburg will be open including D.R.'s Custom Framing with a special exhibit of the photography of Marlana Holsten; Soho in the Burg featuring "Springin' in the Rain" (noon-8); Origins Gallery with "Photography and Other Works from the Past" (3-8); Kitchen Chemistry; and Pocono Soap.For more information, contact PoconoArts at 570-476-4460 or
