Power cut in truck rollover

A Pine Grove truck driver suffered injuries Monday when his truck flipped over near Quakake.

According to Rush Township Sgt. Duane Frederick, Justin Donton, 29, was driving west on Fairview Street at 10:50 a.m. in a 2006 Peterbilt triaxle tractor-trailer.Donton told police he reached for a drink when he traveled across the double yellow line and into the eastbound lane.Donton's truck then left the roadway and he lost control, flipping the Peterbilt onto its side and shearing a utility pole at the intersection with Holly Road.The truck was hauling what appeared to be coal silt, which spilled onto the roadway.Donton was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus inCoaldale and treated for injuries.The vehicle is owned by Donton Trucking in Pine Grove.Due to the sheared utility pole, electricity was cut to at least 18 customers in the vicinity, according to the PPL power outage website.Fairview Street, a heavily used connector between routes 309 and 54, was closed for several hours from the area of Marian Avenue to Bernhard Road.Quakake Fire Company, Ryan Township Ambulance and Hometown Fire Police responded.The accident is still under investigation, police said later Monday.
