The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Major Case Team is investigating an officer involved shooting in Lehigh Township, Northampton County.
On Wednesday, just before 4 p.m., Lehigh Township Police were dispatched to the 4100 block of Heritage Lane, for a domestic incident between a 49-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman.
Upon entering the residence, a confrontation occurred between the man and officers from the Lehigh Township Police Department where a Taser was deployed and the 49-year-old man was shot by an officer.
The man was transported from the residence by Northampton Regional EMS to a hospital.
This case is being investigated by the Troop M Major Case Team. Assisting in this investigation: Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Walnutport Borough Police Department, Moore Township Police Department, Slatington Borough Police Department and Lehigh Township Police Department.
This incident remains under investigation.
