Man brings drugs into prison

A Nesquehoning man has been charged with bringing drugs into the county prison.

Borough police said officer Carl Breiner took John Bobita, 55, of 314 W. Catawissa St., into custody at 7:15 a.m. on Feb. 25 on a warrant for his arrest issued out of Schuylkill County.Breiner transported Bobita to the prison where he was going to be placed until Schuylkill sheriff deputies could come and take custody of him.Upon arriving at the prison, Breiner asked Bobita if he had any contraband or drugs in his possession. Bobita said he did not. Breiner then told him if he did have any drugs on him it was a felony offense to bring them to the prison. Bobita was asked again if he had any drugs on him, and he again said no.Prison personnel then searched Bobita and found three small green pills in a small right side pocket of his pants. Bobita said the pills were painkillers and he had a prescription for them.Breiner then told Bobita that he still cannot bring them into the prison. The pills were later identified as oxycodone hydrochloride pills, schedule 2 drugs.As a result, Breiner charged Bobita with contraband/controlled substance, a felony two, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
