Tamaqua man admits stealing from pharmacy

A Tamaqua man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Thursday to an incident involving theft of drugs from a pharmacy, and a woman pleaded in a forged prescription case.

They entered pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Lehighton incidentKenneth Hibbler, 39, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property for an incident on Jan. 30, 2013, at the First National pharmacy in Lehighton.Hibbler went to the pharmacy to have a prescription for 180 oxycodone pills filled.He returned to pick up the prescription, but was told to wait as the pharmacist was speaking with the doctor who wrote the prescription. Police said Hibbler heard that the doctor was canceling the prescription. At that point Hibbler grabbed the prescription bottle and fled the store. He was later located and arrested.Serfass deferred sentencing to April 13.FraudulentprescriptionBianca Quadia Truitt, 22, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty in two pending cases to one count each of theft and forgery.Truitt was arrested for incidents on March 22, 2012, in Lehighton. She presented a forged prescription for oxycodone at the Rite Aid pharmacy and then later another at the First National pharmacy, both in Lehighton.On the forgery count Serfass placed her on probation for 36 months and on the theft charge for 24 months, with the terms running concurrently.She was also ordered to render a total of 250 hours of community service, and get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.
