New floor plan allows LV to add attractions

ALLENTOWN In 2015 the Lehigh Valley Sportsman Show is literally bigger and better than ever because of a redesigned floor plan that now provides more space for additional vendors and allowed others to expand their display at the show, Friday-Sunday, March 6-8, in the 60,000-square foot Agri-Plex at the Allentown Fairgrounds, 302 North 17th St., Allentown.

Again in 2015 Cabela's Hamburg is the title sponsor for the show, which continues to have free parking on the paved fairgrounds lot, with the admission price holding at $10 and those ages 12 and younger admitted free when accompanied by an adult. New show hours are Friday, March 6, 1-7 p.m.; Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, March 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.As has been true for decades, sportsmen and outdoors enthusiasts consider Allentown "The Show Worth Waiting For" because of its ability to present high-end attractions and outfitters in a low-key, laidback atmosphere that made it such a family friendly event. Promoter Dennis Brozey of

P.B.M. Productions has not only continued that philosophy, but expanded on the youth events by enlarging the fishing pond and adding attractions such as the National Wild Turkey Federation indoor shooting range."As long as I can remember, people came to the outdoors show in Allentown to book trips and finalize their plans," Brozey said. "That has certainly made the show appealing to guides and outfitters, and with the variety of outfitters representing just about every geographic area of the United States , as well as those from Canada and Africa , I can't imagine anyone not finding a species they want to hunt."Certainly, the same can be said for anglers, as we have guides and captains that can put clients on every species from trout to bass to salmon and striped bass to saltwater species. And anglers can book everything from a day of fly-fishing on a trout stream to a week at a Canadian lodge."In addition to those attending the show we have consultants representing a variety of guides and outfitters to meet one-on-one with those looking to plan their next outdoors sporting adventure. Also, for those looking to upgrade their outdoors equipment, there are vendors selling various sporting firearms, archery equipment, fishing tackle and other items that include big-ticket items like boats, motor homes, campers, log homes and ATV's."There are daily seminars and educational and conservation displays, and once again the Lehigh Valley Sportsman Show is proud to partner with the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association for the organization's annual benefit auction, which will be Sunday, March 8, beginning at 1 p.m. Through the generous support of show promoters, vendors, guides and outfitters, POWA has raised more than $400,000 through its auctions at outdoors shows. All the money is used to support a scholarship to Penn State University and another to University of Pittsburgh Johnstown for journalism majors with an interest in outdoors communication and underwrite various youth projects such as field day, conservation camps, fishing events, shooting events and school nature activities. Information on applying for grants is available at the POWA booth. For information on the Lehigh Valley Sportsman Show, call
