The Jim Thorpe Community Watch meetings for the year have been announced and will begin on Thursday. They will be held at 7 p.m. at various locations.

Broadway. Janene M. Holter will do a presentation on identity theft.• April 16: Diligent Fire Company, 300 Center Ave. Presentation by officer Matt Schwarz on new drugs in the area.• May 21: Justin Markell will do a tour or presentation at the Carbon County Communications Center. The group will car-pool to the center.• June 18: Diligent Fire Company, 300 Center Ave. District Judge Ed Lewis will do a presentation on the criminal justice system.• Aug. 20: Pavilion at Memorial Park. Rose Reese will present the proper technique for approaching a suspicious dog.• Sept. 17: Fairview Fire Company, Ninth Street. District Attorney Jean Engler will present "Changing Times, Changing Crimes."• Oct. 15: Diligent Fire Company, 300 Center Ave. Awards ceremony and last meeting of the year.
