Two men were seriously injured Friday afternoon after being involved in a violent head-on crash on Route 902 in Mahoning Township.

The crash involved a West Penn township man who was operating the station wagon south on Route 902 while a man from Weissport was operating a pickup truck going north.

The two units collided head-on on what is commonly known as "Bugzies Mountain." Rescue units from Mahoning township, Summit Hill and Lehighton fire companies responded to the scene as well as numerous ambulances and Lehighton paramedics.

Rescue personnel took about an hour to remove the victims. The crash occurred juat after 5 p.m.

Mahoning Township police are investigating the incident.
