Northern Lehigh parade is Saturday

It won't be long before children in the Northern Lehigh community can let their imaginations run wild!

Whether it's a case of superheroes against villains, or any other particular character of note, the 107th annual Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade figures to be a blast. This year's parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The lineup will form between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Roads in Slatington will be closed at 5 p.m. Roads in Walnutport will close at 6 p.m.The parade will start in Slatington, continue down Main Street and go through Walnutport, where it will end at the Walnutport Playground on Lincoln Avenue. The theme is Comic Books, according to Laura Stauffer, committee chair for the Northern Lehigh Events Committee Inc."A group of us sat down and brainstormed and tried to think of something fun the kids could get into," Stauffer said. She said, "Our goal is always to have a nice community event that the community and people who pass through town get to enjoy. Just a nice, clean, fun, family event."Stauffer said the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers really stepped up and supported the community with their community service hours."We have between 10-15 guys to help us, and that's huge, because we're lacking volunteers in our community," she said. "I'm really thankful and grateful (to the IBEW); honestly, without them, there wouldn't be a parade."She said anyone who would like to volunteer, or for more information, may call 484-265-1028, or visit
