Yes, it feels like summer

It wasn't a record-setting day, but it sure felt that way.

Temperatures reached the 80s on Sunday, well above seasonal averages, sending people to beaches.At Mauch Chunk Lake, as many as 30 people were swimming at one point, while some others donned bathing suits and enjoyed the rays.Some people were content in fishing boats, spending hours on the lake.Some of the visitors to Mauch Chunk Lake came from as far away as Bethlehem, Avoca and Mifflin County."We have a cabin up here so we thought we'd take advantage of the weather," said Amanda Newton of Belleville, Mifflin County.Glen Onoko was hopping with visitors who were enjoying the pleasant weather as much as the turning leaves.It sure didn't feel like October.Hiking paths like the Lehigh Canal in Weissport were busy with visitors.In Allentown, the temperature hit 84 degrees, one degree short of a record set 73 years ago in 1941.Reading had a reading of 85, just one degree below the record 86 set in 1954.Philadelphia flirted with a 128-year-old record.The thermometer at the Philadelphia International Airport read 86, with the record of 91 established in 1886.For most of this week, temperatures won't be quite that warm but they will be above normal, says the National Weather Service.Next week, a cold front could bring several days of more seasonable weather.
