A group of students at St. John Neumann Regional School will be able to brush up on their algebra skills.

That's because the school received a $500 grant from ExxonMobil, which will be used to purchase algebraic calculators for junior high students at the school's Palmerton campus, according to Sister Virginia Stephanie, principal.The grant also promotes the school's goal to guide student growth in every child while partnering with parents, grandparents, and friends of the community, said Sister Stephanie, who added that she, the staff, and parents, are very grateful to ExxonMobil."In this age of cut backs, St. John Neumann Regional School continues to employ separate teachers for art, computer skills, foreign language, music, and physical education," Sister Stephanie said. "Families and staff know that life and education are about more than reading, writing and arithmetic."Amy Hillanbrand, moderator of the Fine Arts and Drama Society, said she couldn't agree more."We are continually humbled and grateful for the generosity of the local community in supporting the gem we have in our school," Hillanbrand said."St. John Neumann Regional School is a shining example of the Catholic Schools Week theme 'Community of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.' "Hillanbrand said she knows firsthand the success students at the school can achieve."Our teachers, staff, and families really do all come together as one for our future: the students," she said. "My boys are flourishing because of their time at SJNRS, and I know the foundation they are receiving will be the reason they continue to succeed throughout their lives."The school has campuses in Palmerton and Slatington, and educates students in grades K-8.It hosts an open house every second Thursday of the month at the Slatington campus, and is prepared for tours at the Palmerton campus as well.
