Man facing drug counts in Tamaqua

A New Ringgold man was arrested on drug related charges on Jan. 27, after he was observed making an exchange outside the kitchen of the Tamaqua Diner.

Borough Police Chief Richard Weaver was driving on Cedar Street when he observed three men outside of the diner's kitchen at 7:50 a.m. As he watched two of the men, who were known to him, made an exchange. Weaver turned around and stopped two of the men, while observing the third man had gone inside the diner.One of the men outside, Christopher Hill, 26, of 47 Mush Dahl Road, New Ringgold, said he owed the other man some money and was just paying his debt.Hill began emptying his pockets and then consented to a pat down search. The search found three glassine bags filled with powder. Each of the bags was marked with a picture of a rabbit and the word "Energizer." The powder field tested positive for heroin.The diner employee was contacted and said he had gone outside for a cigarette and was just speaking to the other men. He was also searched. Weaver found a large amount of cash, but no drugs.Hill was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
