An acting assistant principal has been added at one of Northern Lehigh School District's elementary schools.

By a unanimous vote, the school board approved on Monday to pay a stipend in the amount of $5,000 to Paul Leonzi for assuming the duties of acting assistant principal at Peters Elementary School.Leonzi, 52, of Summit Hill, currently serves as a guidance counselor at Northern Lehigh Middle School. He has been employed by the district for 29 years.He was set to begin as acting assistant principal at Peters on or about Dec. 1, 2013, and will continue to serve for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year.Also on Monday, Superintendent Michael Michaels announced that the Karoly Law Firm of Allentown has donated a whiteboard to the district.Michaels referred to the gesture as a "very charitable, generous contribution."The whiteboard will be utilized by students at Peters, Michaels said.In other business, the board:• Appointed Director Gary Fedorcha as board representative on the Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.• Amended a stipend for Stephen Shuey, Artistic Director of the fall play/spring musical for the Northern Lehigh High School Student Theater Group. The stipend for the assistant director will be $500, and be paid out of the high school student activities fund.• Approved Andrew Kern as assistant director for the fall play/spring musical for the Northern Lehigh High School Student Theater Group. The stipend for the assistant director will be $500, and will be paid out of the high school student activities fund.• Approved Angel Gerould as a substitute elementary, mid-level English, Reading Specialist and Family Consumer Sciences, for the 2013-14 school year, at the 2013-14 substitute teacher rates as approved on the Supplementary Personnel Salary Schedule, pending verification of missing personnel file items.• Approved Connie Graaf and Trevor Sherman as substitute cafeteria workers for the 2013-14 school year, at the 2013-14 substitute rate as approved on the Supplementary Personnel Salary Schedule, pending verification of missing personnel file items.• Approved Christopher Miller as substitute custodian for the 2013-14 school year, at the 2013-14 substitute rate as approved on the Supplementary Personnel Salary Schedule, pending verification of missing personnel file items.
