Lehighton couple wed 60 years

Delbert and Loise Fritz of Lehighton recently observed their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Sept. 26, 1953 at St. John's Lutheran & Reformed Church, Mahoning, by the Rev. W.W. Moyer.

Mrs. Fritz is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell D. Miller. Her husband is the son of the late Helen and Willard Fritz.Loise graduated from Lehighton High School and the Allentown Business School. She was a secretary for approximately 12 years for the Prudential Insurance Company, in its Lehighton office.She was organist at her home church for many years, and also organist at St. Peter's Church in Mantzville, and Zion's Stone Church in Snyders.She also played the organ for a joint choir of approximately 70 voices and a male chorus, both comprised of voices from the church parish.Delbert also graduated from Lehighton High School. At age 16 he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country for two years. After his military service, he took a course at the institute of Practical Arts in Tamaqua. He than began his lifelong career in building.He was a supervisor on various construction projects, including churches, nursing homes, schools and residential homes, both local and distant. He is in the Carpenters' Union for 69 years.The couple continue to live in the same home Delbert built over 60 years ago.
