Summer weather brings success to Summit Fall Fest

Summer-like weather prevailed Saturday for the annual Fall Fest, hosted by The Summit at Blue Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The warm weather brought out several hundred folks of all ages to check out the flea market, games, music and food.There was the crowning of Little Miss Summit/Little Mr. Summit and Jr. Miss Summit/Jr. Mr. Summit and a scavenger hunt for children.The Perseverance Jazz Band, sponsored by the Mahoning Lions Club and Remember When performed under the big tent. Enjoying the music and activities were many residents of the center, who enjoyed visiting with family and friends. There was also a large Chinese auction.Volunteers were kept busy throughout the day selling homemade food, which included bean soup, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, ice cream, cookies and apple dumplings. Race cars and classic cars also were on display.The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company brought its Safety House, plus there was pumpkin and face painting, potato sack races and ball toss.Carbon County Safe Kids provided coconut crusher demonstrations and children had the chance to win a bicycle helmet.Children explored the LVHN medical helicopter, which landed in the morning.
