A Lehighton Area High School graduate had the honor of preparing dinner and serving it to Governor Tom Corbett and his wife Susan in Harrisburg.

Nolan Linaberry, who is a student of the Pa. School of Culinary Arts in Lancaster, was one of two students selected from the college to participate in a special event at the Governor's Mansion on Sept. 14.He helped to prepare the menu, cook the food, and assemble the items. He also served the food to the governor and his wife.He was at the Governor's Mansion from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on that day, where he helped to prepare a 12-course meal.Some of the food that Linaberry helped prepare was butternut squash, ravioli with a vegetable spaghetti and ginger cream sauce, and a free range duck confit.There also was pan roasted beef shoulder tenderloin with a soaked apple demi-glace, a wild mushroom ragout, roasted babycarrots, and petite fingerling potatoes.Finally, there was a trio of local cheeses served with an ice wine, and apple tartlet with honey and vanilla ice cream.Linaberry graduated from Lehighton Area High School in 2012. He is the son of Jenny Nonweiler of Lehighton and Bob Linaberry of East Stroudsburg.It wasn't until he was a sophomore in high school that he decided he wanted to become a chef."I started cooking at home and enjoyed it," he said. "My father as well as my grandfather led me to be a cook. My father cooked at home."He added, "I just enjoy cooking for my family."He said the executive chef at the Capitol, Barry Crumlich, knows several of the instructors at the Pa. School of Culinary Arts. He asked for two students from the school for the Harrisburg event and Linaberry was one of the two selected.After the event, Governor Corbett came into the kitchen. Several times during the event Linaberry got to speak with the First Lady of Pennsylvania.Linaberry presently resides in Landisville, Lancaster County, where he works in a pizza shop.He said he enjoyed cooking at the Governor's Mansion."Being at his residence is definitely an experience I'll never forget," Linaberry said.
