The food list of vendors for the 150th anniversary celebration for Slatington has been filled out, except for hamburgers, committee members were told at their July 15 meeting. Boy Scouts were going to be asked if they wanted that concession.

Another possible Boy Scout project would be Dutch oven cobbler. There is no stand devoted exclusively for beverages, but people mentioned several food stands that would also have beverages.It was said that "It sounds like we're going to have a party." A lot of help will be needed at the kickoff and throughout the coming year.Ted Kistler said they would be using pitchers for beer and plastic glasses. The pitchers go over well at The Gathering. He said tables and chairs are rented.People from Northampton, Reading and Whitehall have volunteered to help.The parade order from the 1989 125th celebration will give ideas for this year's parade.Slates, tee shirts and mugs are ordered.A double-size slate with wooden frame will be a more costly keepsake. The limited edition item will be 12 by 15-inches and will have the logo on one half and a plain chalkboard on the other half.The commemorative history book will not be put out on DVD because it is too easy to burn new copies. Preorders for the book will be accepted at the kickoff. Sponsor pages are being sold.David Price will provide music for the kickoff including his original song "Home to Slatington."Northern Lehigh Future Focus is the newest charter member. The Moose and American Legion are expected to sign on.Emerald Dragon Karate wants to get involved but not as a demonstration.Rep. Julie Harhart will attend to present a citation to the committee.Charles Rowlands is pleased with the copies of his book, "Remember When," which is already into a second printing.Ed Ziegler brought a plaque from the 1950 Soap Box Derby. Ray Farber was a trial heat winner in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. He said the secret to winning was to use sewing machine oil.
