The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (0BPP) at Jim Thorpe Area High School was the recent recipient of two $500 donations.
The donations were due to the generosity of the Jim Thorpe National Bank and the Mauch Chunk Trust Company.OBPP will be able to purchase additional books and supplies for teachers to use when training Jim Thorpe Area High School students about bullying behavior and preventative measures during the 2013-14 school year.The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program developed by researcher Dr. Dan Olweus is a blueprint model recognized by the Center for Study & Prevention of Violence.It is also recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Level Two Program.The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is designed for all students and is preventative and responsive.It is focused on changing norms and restructuring the school setting and finally, it is not limited by time.The Jim Thorpe Area High School will unveil its OBPP efforts during the 2013-14 school year.
