They combined their love of the arts with their passion for animals.

The end result was a scene reminiscent of that of a jungle recently at St. John Neumann Regional School.Art instructor Patricia Passick said the theme of this year's art show held at the school's Palmerton campus was "It's a Jungle Out There"."We combined the elements of art with different African animals," Passick said. "We get to look back at the end of the year and see how their skills improved."Students from both the Slatington campus, which houses grades K-3, and the Palmerton campus, which houses grades 4-8, participated in the art show.As he gazed at the wealth of impressive art work on display, Timothy Hillabrand, a fifth-grader at the school's Palmerton campus, described what he saw as being "really artistic."Fellow fifth-grader Erica Messics said "it was fun. The animal theme was awesome."Their classmate, fifth-grader Felicia James, added "it was really interesting because of the animal theme."Fifth-grader Sophia Bauer said "it was fun. I like looking at what we created."Once again, the school held its art show in conjunction with Chrysler's Drive For the Kids program.Representatives from Chrysler brand and Rentschler Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Dealership joined with parents and teachers for a Drive for the Kids fundraiser in support of the school.Rentschler Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram, of Slatington, provided minivans and volunteers to answer questions, and help out with the fundraising, as parents and guests who took test drives earned a $10 contribution for the school.Passick said 102 drivers helped raise over $1,000 as part of the program.Since 1993, when Chrysler introduced Drive for the Kids, Chrysler dealers have worked with parents and educators in communities across the nation. Chrysler has contributed over $4.5 million, directly to local schools, for student needs from playgrounds and field trips, to reading programs and computers.
