Four area residents among 22 to enter guilty pleas

Four area residents were among 22 who entered guilty pleas in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.

Benjamin Andrew Kuzo, 21, of 4 Dogwood Lane, Lake Hauto Development, Rush Township, on charges of theft of a credit card from the motor vehicle of Elbert Stegmier, Tamaqua, was given credit for serving 119 days in the county prison and released on parole for 23 months. He was ordered to pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, and make restitution of $1,521 to the victim.On a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, was given a sentence of 72 hours to six months to run concurrent with the theft charge, however, he must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $460 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), attend alcohol highway safe driving school, receive outpatient counseling, perform 10 hours community service, and his driver's license was suspended for 12 months.On a charge of possession of a controlled substance was placed on probation to run concurrent with the other sentences. Melicharek, 51, of 214 Pine St., Tamaqua, on charges of theft by deception and passing bad checks, was sentenced to serve seven to 23 months in the county prison, with credit for serving 51 days, pay $100 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $2,880 to Raymond Scheidel. He was cited by West Penn Township Patrolman Jason L. Lorah.Rolan Gilbert, 24, of 248 E. Patterson St., Lansford, delivery of a controlled substance to a confidential informant (CI) in Tamaqua, Gilbert was given credit for serving 301 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Lab. He was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Anthony Stanell.Gilbert also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and was sentenced to serve 12 months on probation to run concurrent to the drug sentence. He was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Rodgers.Daniel Jacob Snyder, 27, of 30 Penn Avenue, Palmerton, possession of drug paraphernalia, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 10 hours community service. Snyder was cited by Cpl. Leo Luciani, state trooper, when he drove his car off Kepner's Road in West Penn Township and struck a tree.Zaine Tyree Mitchell, 32, Hazleton, terroristic threats made to Jody Forker, 44 James St., Kelayres, was given credit for serving 148 days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 17 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund.On a charge of criminal mischief by damaging a television set was given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence. He was cited by Kline Township Officer Scott Kramer.Mitchell also pleaded guilty to DUI of alcohol and received a sentence of 72 hours to six months but was granted immediate parole, but must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school, receive outpatient counseling, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months.On summary charges of careless driving and violating a stop sign was fined $25 each plus $100 in costs.
