It was a scene reminiscent of a Winter Wonderland.

Complete with life-size ice sculptures, dog sledding, and the 2013 Luge Challenge, Blue Mountain Ski Area's Winter Festival had a little something for everyone.With so much to do and see, the free event held over the weekend at both the Summit and Valley Lodges proved to be a smash hit with visitors, according to Heidi Lutz, Director of Sales and Marketing."It's been great; it is a little chilly," Lutz said. "All the guests have a lot of fun."Indeed, they did, as youngsters such as Zane Fatzinger, 4, of Palmerton, took turns coasting down the larger-than-life sliding board ice carving.Zane was accompanied by his mother, Brooke Fatzinger, who said they attended the event "just to get out and get some fresh air."Amid all the activity, Joe Suto, 14, and Brett Papay, 14, of Palmerton, took a break from the action to warm up at the fire pit."I enjoy the cold weather," Suto said. "I like being outside."The Luge Challenge, with open training on course sponsored by the US Olympic Luge Team, was without question a featured attraction.There was also Ma-Luk Dog Sledding; wood carving; snow shoe demos; live entertainment in the Alpine Ballroom; a Torch Parade; and fireworks by Young Explosives.
