A Lehigh County man already imprisoned for his role in burglarizing three churches and a bar in Slatington earlier this month has also admitted to breaking into about 30 vehicles in the borough.

Allen Miller, 20, of Slatington, admitted to the break-ins during an interview Jan. 16 with Slatington Police. Miller was charged with four counts of theft from a motor vehicle, and three counts of attempted theft from a motor vehicle.He was arraigned before District Judge Rod Beck of Slatington, and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $5,000 bail.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Slatington Police Officer Frank Gnas:On Jan. 11, Gnas was dispatched to several locations throughout the borough, at which time he took several reports of thefts from motor vehicles, as well as attempted theft from vehicles, according to the affidavit.The thefts from vehicles were purses, compact discs, and money, the affidavit says.On Jan. 14, Gnas observed Miller in the area of Middle Alley and East Church Street, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, black pants, and black knit gloves.Gnas then advised the oncoming shift of this. At about 11:15 p.m., Sgt. Burke was dispatched for theft from a motor vehicle. Burke was then advised by the reporting party that he could identify the suspect as Allen, but had no further information.On Jan. 16, Gnas conducted an interview with Miller at police headquarters, at which time Miller subsequently admitted to entering about 30 vehicles within the last two weeks. Miller did issue Gnas voluntary witness statements regarding his involvement s in the thefts and attempted thefts.Gnas then advised Miller he would be filing charges on him regarding the matter, and contacted Assistant District Attorney Christine Murphy regarding the matter, and she approved all charges.The charges were just the latest filed against Miller, who along with Michael Weaver, 26, of Slatington, were imprisoned for breaking into St. John's the Baptist Church, The Shack, Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, and St. John's UCC Church on Jan. 15.Miller was jailed in lieu of $50,000 straight bail, and Weaver, in lieu of $75,000 straight bail, on those charges.Miller was charged with four counts each of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, conspiracy, and three counts of institutional vandalism. Weaver was charged with five counts each of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief, along with four counts each of conspiracy and institutional vandalism.
