Five area residents were among 23 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

Alysa Cristine Frey, 22, of 15 South Tamaqua Drive, Tamaqua R.D., driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Wednesday, Jan. 16, fined $1,000, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, attend the alcohol highway safe driving school, receive outpatient treatment, perform 20 hours community service, and submit to random screen tests.On a summary charge of being involved in an accident on Spruce Street last June 19 was fined $300 plus $60 costs and careless driving fined $25 plus $50 costs. Frey was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Joseph F Krebs.Frey also pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped on March 5, 2011, by Tamaqua police and was placed on probation for 12 months to run concurrent, pay $100 to SAE fund and $50 to CJEA fund.Steven Leonard Gaffney, 28, of 9 Tunnel St., Apt. A, Lansford, retail theft of television set from Walmart Store, Hometown, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $1,072 to the store. Gaffney was cited by Rush Township Patrolman Corey Herring, last June 30.On a second charge of retail theft of a second television set he was given a concurrent 23 months probation sentence, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $728 to the store. Gaffney was cited by Rush Patrolman Ryan Rehatchek, last July 1.Robert Maurice Valentine, 44, of 41 Rocky Lane, New Ringgold, defiant trespass on property of West Penn Rod and Gun Club, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 10 hours community service. Valentine was cited last April 13.Lisa Marie Hinkle, 48, of 210 W. Sherman St., McAdoo, delivery of a controlled substance to a confidential informant (CI) in her home was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $339 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Hinkle was cited by McAdoo Patrolman Robert Minnick, last Feb. 2.Derek Raymond Schlorf, 23, of 56 Jeddo St., Freeland, Luzerne County, forgery of checks belonging to Thorns Cycles and all terrain vehicles (ATVs), where he was employed and were cashed at We R Cigarettes store, Tamaqua, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $2,843.74. Schlorf was cited by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods, on Oct. 11, 2011.Jared Alan Kleckner, 26, Orwigsburg, DUI of alcohol, serve 30 days in county prison beginning Wednesday, Jan. 30, followed by four years and 11 months in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP), fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SMC, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, perform 20 hours community service, driver's license suspended 18 months and when restored for 12 months must have ignition interlock on wheel of car to monitor any consumption of alcohol by the driver.On a summary charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Kleckner was cited by Trooper Eric L. Reber last Feb. 12 when stopped on Adamsdale Road in North Manheim Township.Acxel Mauricio Barboza, 42, Shenandoah, involved in accident in Frackville on June 27, 2011, sentenced to 90 days in county prison, however, since he has been incarcerated for 101 days was granted immediate parole. Sgt. Marvin LIvergood, filed the charge.Zachary A. Kudingo, 24, Schuylkill Haven, failing to furnish drug free specimen to probation officer, sentenced to serve an additional 12 months on probation.Tomas Lantigia Cordero, 21, Shenandoah, unauthorized use of motor vehicle of James Maloney, Shenandoah, last Jan. 7, placed on probation 23 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Cordero was cited by Lt. Gary Keppel.Paige Mary Hubiak-Reynolds, 30, Pottsville, DUI of alcohol, serve 90 days to five years in the county prison beginning Monday, Jan. 21, at 9 a.m., fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, complete safety school, and receive outpatient treatment.On a charge of careless driving was fined $25 plus $50 costs. She was cited by Pottsville Cpl. Mark D. O'Toole, last June 17.Joseph William Kane, 40, Pottsville, DUI of alcohol, serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, fined $1,500, pay $300 to SAE fund, $100 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment, and perform 40 hours community service.On a charge of disorderly conduct was fined $150 and on a charge driving an unregistered vehicle was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Kane was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph R. Welsh, last March 2.Kane was also charged with theft from a motor vehicle taken from Womer's Garage, Hotel Street, last March 13 by Cpl. Mark D. O'Toole, and was sentenced to serve an additional 12 months on probation and pay $50 to CJEA fund. He was charged with open lewdness by Patrolman Kirk A. Becker, and was given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence.Christopher James Harper, 25, Pottsville, DUI of drugs, serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Feb. 1, at 9 a.m., fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, complete safety school, receive outpatient treatment, and perform 20 hours community service.On a summary charge of driving while license was suspended was fined $200; and violating a stop sign fined $25 plus $100 costs. Harper was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian W. Kotzmoyer, last April 8.Steven Peter Rhoades, 43, Enolo, DUI of drugs and alcohol, sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, attend safety school and perform 10 hours community service.On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was given a six months concurrent probation sentence. Rhoades was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Reno.Christopher Brett Spangler, 44, Reading, DUI of drugs, serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000. pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to SMC, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, attend safety school.On a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana has to serve an additional 30 days on probation, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia must serve an additional 60 days on probation and on a summary charge of failing to activate his turning signals when required was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Spangler was cited by Minersville Patrolman Richard C. Cink.He also must pay a $50 fee to district attorney's office for a bench warrant when he failed to keep a court appearance. Spangler was also charged by Patrolman Cink with theft of of cash from a desk in the borough police department. He was sentenced to serve an additional 12 months on probation, pay $50 to CJEA fund and make restitution of $332 to the police department.Shawn Patrick Barto, 24, Minersville, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and $176 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Barto was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey, last March 7.Luis Manuel Merced, 50, Minersville, delivery of a baggie of cocaine for $100 in 300 block on Westwood Street, Minersville, last July 25, was sentenced to serve five to 23 months in the county prison, however, since he has already served 168 days, was placed on parole, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and perform 40 hours community service. He was cited by Minersville Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers.Justine Kyle Cramer, 27, Port Carbon, simple assault, given credit for time served and placed on parole for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, complete Anger Management course, perform 20 hours community service and make restitution of $106 to victim, Kayla Strauss, Pottsville. Cramer was cited by Patrolman Paul R. Olson, last Sept. 14.Raymond Michael Poppich, 69, Pottsville, criminal trespass into vacant home at 819 W. Market St., Pottsville, placed on probation 12 months, and perform 10 hours community service. Poppich was cited by Patrolman Kirk A. Becker, last Aug. 27.Anthony Michael Grohowski, 34, North Fort Myers, Fla., giving false identification to Pottsville police while attempting to sell magazines in the city without a permit, was given credit for serving three months in prison and placed on parole for six months. On a charge of violating a city ordinance was fined $600.Amanda Dana, 27, Minersville, giving a false identification to Minersville police, sentenced to serve two weeks to 12 months in the county prison. On a charge of driving while license suspended was fined $200; and driving an unregistered vehicle fined $75 plus $100 costs.Joann Blount, 44, Pottsville, retail theft of seven items from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service and make restitution of $17.85 to the store.Yesenia Miranda, 25, Pottsville, retail theft of computer from Care-Net Store, Pottsville, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 30 hours community service.Ryan Michael Matthews, 26, Boyertown, DUI of drugs, sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, perform10 hours community service, and submit to random screen tests.On summary charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Matthews was cited by Trooper Thomas Hornung last Aug. 24 when stopped on Greenwood Road in North Manheim Township.Each defendant must also pay additional court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
