A Tamaqua man, who allegedly went on a buying spree with a stolen credit card, appeared before District Judge Stephen Bayer this week for his preliminary hearings.

Richard Melicharek, 51, of 214 Pine St., Tamaqua, elected to waive all charges connected to the stolen credit card, as well as charges of passing a bad check in a separate incident, to court. Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods filed the charges in both cases. The bad check charges stems from a June 25 incident. Charges in the credit card case stem from an Oct. 25 incident. Those charges include multiple felony counts of forgery and multiple misdemeanor counts of access device fraud, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured in both cases.Other cases scheduled to be heard before Bayer resulted in many defendants waiving their charges to county court, but two defendants elected to have the judge hear their cases.Carly E. Niedert, 21, of 11 Great Oaks Dr., Nesquehoning, had charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop at a stop sign bound over for court trial. The charges were filed by Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Joseph Aponick and stem from a Nov. 22 incident.Niedert was released on her own recognizance.Derek Marcus Krapf, 24, of 90 Back St., MaryD, also was bound over for court trial after his hearing on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended/revoked license. The charges stem from a Nov, 25 incident and were filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Houser.Bail was set at $25,000 unsecured.Defendants electing to waive their hearings included:John R. Blashock IV, 40, of 1335 S. Church St., Hazleton, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and failure to stop at a red light. The charges were filed by McAdoo Patrolman Steven Homanko following a Sept. 26 incident.Blashock was released on his own recognizance.Donna E. Shistel, 60, of 91 Orchard Rd., Barnesville, faces trial on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering the welfare of children following a Sept. 2 incident. The charges were filed by Rush Township Patrolman Bradley Hess.Shistel was released on her own recognizance.Kenneth R. Shankweiler, 50, of 9 State Rd., Barnesville, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and disregard of a traffic lane. The charges stem from a Sept. 22 incident and were filed by Rush Township Patrolman Bradley Hess.Shankweiler was released on his own recognizance.Diane M. Robert, 40, of 208 E. High St., Coaldale, will face trial on charges filed by Rush Township Police Sgt. Duane Frederick, including driving while under the influence, child endangerment and driving with a suspended license. The charges stem from a Nov. 9 incident.Robert was released on her own recognizance.Jamie L. Bauder, 29, of 100 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, will go to court on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment. She was charged by Coaldale Patrolman Joseph Krebs following a Nov. 23 incident.Bauder was released on her own recognizance.Kelly G. Bredamus, 44, of 18 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, will have her case heard in the county courts. She was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, assault by prisoner and disorderly conduct following a Dec. 4 incident. The arresting officer is Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig.Bredamus continues to be incarcerated in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $100,000 bail.
