Two defendants, who are charged for participating in robberies at Carbon County locations, entered guilty pleas in the county court this week.

The two were among 16 defendants in pending cases to enter a plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Palmerton incidentsFreddie M. Knight, 39, of Palmerton, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery.He was one of three arrested by borough police in connection with a pair robberies that occurred at the Convenient Food Mart, 643 Delaware Ave., within a span of four days from April 26-29.Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were dropped in a plea bargain.Arrested with Knight were James Dee Archer, 33, and Arlene Ann Jones, 44, both of Palmerton. Archer is charged with robbery, theft and receiving; and Jones is charged with criminal conspiracy-robbery, criminal conspiracy-theft, and criminal conspiracy-receiving stolen property.Archer and Jones are scheduled to go on trial in January in the county court.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI).Franklin incidentMichael Todd Trumbore, 44, of Reading, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal attempt-robbery, for an incident on July 5, 2011, in Franklin Township.He was charged in connection with an incident at the Wells Fargo branch bank at 145 SR209 (Interchange Road).Matika deferred sentencing and ordered a PSI.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas included the following:Raymond D. Deluna, 42, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on July 4 along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton by borough police. Given a test, the result was .16BAC.Matiak deferred sentencing.Kerry Russell Eckhart, 58, of Kunkletown, pleaded to one count each of simple assault and DUI. He was arrested on July 7 along Lehigh Avenue in Palmerton by borough police. Given a test, the result was .13BAC. The victim of the assault was listed as Robert M. Bloomfield.On the DUI count Matika placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and zero tolerance for D&A use.On the assault count he was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI charge, render 50 hours of community service, and ordered to have no contact with Bloomfield.Russell D. Evans, 30, of White Haven, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on April 7 along Interstate 81 in Kidder Township. Given a test, the result was .26BAC.Sentencing was deferred.Christopher Alan Field, 21, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on May 30 in the area of 214 E. Ludlow St., by borough police.Matika placed him on probation for six months and ordered he render 25 hours of community service. The term runs concurrent with a sentence he is serving in Bucks County.Robert Thomas Fisher Sr., 48, of Bethlehem, pleaded to one count of theft. He was arrested on Aug. 26 by state police at Lehighton, for an incident in which he was charged with taking copper wiring from a PPL substation along Gap Road, in Lower Towamensing Township.Sentencing was deferred.Michael D. Gonzales, 28, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault. He was arrested on Aug. 20 by Nesquehoning police for an incident in the area of 116 W. High St., with a 12-year-old boy the listed victim.Matika placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he attend and successfully complete an anger management course, and have no contact with the victim.Larry S. Heffelfinger, 50, of Lehighton, pleaded to the summary offense of operating a vehicle without a ignition interlock system.He as fined $500 and costs.Nick Juliano, 31, of Tamaqua, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on May 18, 2011, in the area of 27 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, by borough police.Matika placed him on probation for six months and ordered he render 25 hours of community service.Gregory Alan Lazorick, 40, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on Oct. 12, 2010, along Center St., in Jim Thorpe, by borough police. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.Lazorick was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition (ARD) probation program for first time offenders but was revoked from it for violating conditions.Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation, and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Dec. 3.Shaina Marie Poshefko, 25, of Slatington, pleaded to one count each of theft and receiving stolen property. She was arrested on March 18 by Summit Hill police for taking a television and computer from the residence of Daniel Kimmel, of 323 W. White St. The victim was an ex-boyfriend of the defendant, it was noted.On the theft charge Matika placed her on probation for two years and ordered her to get a D&A evaluation, make restitution of $570 to the victim, have no contact with the victim, and render 100 hours of community service. The TV was recovered by not the computer, it was noted.Matika ruled the receiving charge merged with the theft count for sentencing purposes.Vincent Taddei Jr., 26, of Thornton, Delaware County, pleaded to one count of obstruction of justice. He was arrested for an incident on March 20, 2005, when he left a juvenile facility in Kidder Township without permission. He had been placed there by the Delaware County juvenile court. He was not located until recently and charged. He said he moved to Florida a short time after leaving the camp and returned back to the area recently. He was arrested in Chester County, which learned of the Carbon arrest warrant.Matika placed in on probation for a year and ordered he render 50 hours of community service.Tara Elizabeth Wentz, 29, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on Oct. 14 along Cedar St., in Franklin Township, by township police.Matika deferred sentencing.Jason Wilk, 28, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of theft. He was arrested by East Penn Township police on Jan. 26 for entering a storage shed on the property of Vincent and Valerie Macalush, along Riverview Rd., and removing various items.Sentencing was deferred.Leo Stephen Cheresnowsky, 59, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of DUI. He was arrested on July 29, along Catawissa St., in Nesquehoning, by borough police. Given a test, the result was .20BAC.Matika deferred sentencing so Cheresnowsky could apply for the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP).Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
