Lansford Alive will host the 2nd annual downtown sidewalk sale in the borough's business district, on Ridge Street between Spring Garden and Coal streets, on Friday and Saturday.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.The sale highlights many local businesses, including Germaine's Gifts, Porvaznik's Flowers, Silver's Used Book Store, Valley Athletic, Loretta's Nook, Thankful Thrift, First Niagara Bank, Bank of America, Boyer's Market, and iconographer Raymond Mastroberte.There will be additional stands at 28 W. Ridge St., including a rummage and bake sale benefiting the Panther Valley Library, and complimentary tests and information provided by St. Luke's Hospital.Since its founding in 2000, Lansford Alive has been working to revitalize the commercial district of Lansford, Pennsylvania by using a five-point approach to downtown revitalization. The five points are: community improvement, design, economic restructuring, historic preservation and tourism, and organization.Also, on Saturday, Oct. 20, Lansford Alive will host a free guided real estate tour of vacant commercial properties from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tour guests will begin assembling inside the Panther Valley Mini Mall, at 28 W. lshcpmanager@gmail.com.The goal of the tour is to encourage investors, entrepreneurs, and business owners to consider purchasing and restoring one of the many affordable historic buildings in downtown Lansford. On the list are about a dozen properties both for sale and for rent. Some are represented by real estate agents, and some are for sale by owner. A wide variety of commercial building options will be toured: churches, factories, warehouse/storage, storefronts, build-to-suit, and restaurants. Several of the buildings feature unique historical details such as tin ceilings and stained glass windows.The tour will be guided by David Benevy and Sara Ruch. Benevy owns several commercial properties in town and can give an insider's view of what it's like to own property in Lansford. Ruch is the project manager of the Lansford-Summit Hill Community Partnership, an organization that works closely with Lansford Alive on downtown revitalization projects.
